Stress and the Business User

The Institute of Management estimates that 270,000 people take sick time every day due to work related illness, with 75% of all sickness being stress related. This has a cost to industry estimated at £7 billion a year.

Reflexology is now being commonly offered to staff to combat work related stress illness. Also, auricular acupuncture is now gaining acceptance as a medium for treatment in this area.

Reflexology and acupuncture can reduce stress and can also help recovery from many acute and chronic illnesses such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, high blood pressure, IBS, ME, MS and muscular aches and pains.

By making treatments available to staff, management can significantly reduce absenteeism, increase productivity, increase morale and create integrated communications with other staff and customers – thereby cutting costs and increasing profits.

This service is a way to:

  • Reward staff and clients,
  • Staff with poor sickness record may benefit from reflexology rather than the additional stress of  disciplinary action,
  • Improve staff work rate (and make them feel good),
  • Keeps delegates fresh, enthusiastic and motivated during conferences, training workshops and corporate entertainments.

For example

Odense post office in Denmark with 1450 employees had a sick day average of 11.4 days per employee. Using reflexology reduced the number of sick days per year to an average of 8.5 days – at a saving of Danish kroner 1 million.

British industry, large and small, and organisations such as NHS are now developing this practice for themselves and discovering the benefits from an HR and economic perspective.

Mobile reflexology (and auricular acupuncture) can be delivered to any work place, conference or event, large or small. Reflexology is given fully clothed (except socks and shoes).

One 15 – 20 minute session can be effective at producing pain relief, increasing circulation and toning the nervous system, staff return to their occupations invigorated and renewed.

I can also introduce the subject of stress through two hour workshops in seminars for business trainees where the concepts of stress and its symptoms may be discussed and techniques taught to aid stress reduction.
