Clinical Practice
What happens on first making an appointment?
Typically, the client will be given a consultation where the client is encouraged to express their feelings, concerns and issues in the way which they feel is appropriate for them.
The process of investigation in Reflexology is gentle and non-threatening. No clothing is removed with the exception of socks and shoes when the therapist asks permission to conduct a clinical assessment of the feet.
After assessment the therapist may make recommendations and offer advice regarding any possible treatment after discussing his observations with the client.
In some cases the therapist will advise consulting your doctor before any reflexology treatment may be offered.
The client should be aware that:
- Privacy and confidentiality are paramount considerations.
- No diagnosis is ever made by the therapist.
